EASTNOR have moved off the bottom of Division Two of the Birmingham League after a low-scoring home win over Halesowen.

A superb spell of bowling by Shahid Ahmed, who took 5-19, well supported by Sajid Ali (4-36), helped to dismiss the visitors for just 75.

"Shahid is in great form and in the last three games has bowled 40 over, with 20 maidens, and taken 11 wickets while conceding just 50 runs," said Eastnor spokesman Malcolm Hughes.

Eastnor seemed to be cruising to victory when they reached 51 before the first wicket fell.

But a collapse set in and the home side had lost seven wickets before their target was achieved.

Brockhampton remain in third place after a losing draw against leaders West Bromwich Dartmouth.

Former Worcestershire and Gloucestershire opener Kadeer Ali led the home side to an impressive 253-7.

Skipper Ben Stebbings led the Worcestershire response with a fine innings of 87, including three sixes and three fours.

But the villagers were always behind the rate and finished on 201-6 after a late flurry from Nick Powell, who also hit three sixes in his 29 not out.
