BROCKHAMPTON are back up to second place in the Premier Division of the Birmingham League after beating both the weather and basement club Himley at The Parks.

The villagers triumphed in a match reduced to 23 overs a side by 51 runs after bowling Himley out for just 58.

The visitors won the toss and their decision to bowl paid instant dividends when Adam Hewlett was caught behind from the first ball of the Brockhampton innings.

Chris Powell and Ben Stebbings quickly followed as the home side subsided to 6-3.

But Chris Boroughs, as so often, held the Brockhampton innings together and included five fours and a six from his 47, compiled from 59 balls.

He was assisted by Joe Crichard (13) and Will Barrett, who hit four fours and a six in a useful 34.

The Brockhampton innings closed on 109-6 after their 23 overs.

The Himley replied had reached 17 before the first wicket fell, with former Herefordshire player Nathan Round run out by Barrett.

But, after that, a collapse set in which saw the visitors slide to 29-6.

Only two of the Himley batsmen reached double figures as they were unable to recover and were dismissed for 58 in the face of a good all-round effort by the Brockhampton attack.

Jamie McIlroy led the way with 3-22 while Callum Stewart, who took 2-0 in four overs, Boroughs (2-21) and Nick Powell (2-15) all chipped in with two wickets apiece.

Wicket-keeper Chris Powell also played a significant party with three catches and a stumping.
