BROCKHAMPTON fast-bowler Charlie Morris has signed a new two-year deal with Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

The 21-year-old, who was raised in Lugwardine, will serve Worcestershire on a summer scholarship next season.

Hereford-born Morris, who played against Australia in the summer, will then switch to a full contract at New Road until the end of the 2015 campaign.

He is hoping to continue his club cricket with Brockhampton in the Premier Division of the Birmingham League.

Morris said: "I am delighted that the club has offered me a full contract for after I finish my studies at university.

“It's an honour to be a part of the club because it has been a dream to play professional cricket.

“I am aware that the hard work begins now and I'm excited for the opportunities ahead and, hopefully, contributing to the future success of the club."

He added: “I intend to stay at Brockhampton for my club cricket. I had a really enjoyable first year at the club and was made to feel very welcome.

“I am planning to play for Brockhampton as much as I am able to.”

Morris featured in Worcestershire’s Yorkshire Bank 40 campaign last summer and bagged his best list A return - 2-25 - at Trent Bridge.

He was awarded his Worcestershire debut in the county’s clash with the touring Australians, scoring 25 not out.

Morris is studying a sport and exercise science course at Oxford Brookes University which finishes next May.

“I will be training on the MCCU programme and training with Worcestershire every few weeks,” he said.

“When I get spare time I will coming up to Worcestershire as much as I can.”
