CRICKET coach Anna Robertson has won a national award for her outstanding contribution to cricket development in schools in Herefordshire.

The Burghill star was named the Chance to Shine Coach-of-the- Year at the Brit Insurance Annual Achievement Awards 2013.

Anna, who works for Herefordshire Cricket, was presented with the award by Ashes-winning England captain Alastair Cook.

“It was a fabulous day at The Oval and it is very nice for the hard work and enthusiasm in our county to be recognised,” said Anna.

Anna also met England internationals Chris Tremlett and Jade Dernbach at the ceremony, as well as England women’s star Heather Knight.

Anna’s father Ian Robertson was overwhelmed with her achievement.

“We are all really proud of her and over the moon,” said Ian.

“Channel 5 presenter Mark Nicholls hosted the event and Anna was the first one to collect an award.”

Robertson added: “She was in a short list of three people, but we didn’t know she had won until it was announced.

“A video of her coaching at St Paul’s School in Hereford was also shown.”
