COLWALL have clinched promotion back to Division One of the Worcestershire League at the first attempt.

The Malvern Hills club sealed second place in Division Two with a crushing eight-wicket home success against Netherton.

The visitors struggled against the Colwall seam attack of 15-year-old Michael Gooch (4-20) and Australian Jacob Rodgers (4-38) and were dismissed for just 109.

With the prolific Tom Coleman in excellent form, Colwall experienced no such difficulties and cruised to success from just 22.2 overs. During the course of his 71, Coleman passed 1,000 league runs for the season and has compiled 1,424 in all competitions.

Another Australian has also enjoyed a fruitful season at Wormelow with Jamie Banfield (109) signing off with his fifth century of the term in a losing draw at home to Coombs Wood.

Bromyard’s match at Belbroughton was off due to bad weather but the Flaggoners Green club still finished as runners-up behind champions Astwood Bank.

Burghill and Tillington signed off with an emphatic 153-run over Pershore but this will not be enough to preserve their Division One status. Jack Hale (125) and Hamish Cooke (112) struck centuries as Burghill racked up 325-5 from their 50 overs. New Zealander Cooke (3-23) led the way with the ball as Pershore were dismissed for 172.

Ross-on-Wye also ended their Division Three season with a conclusive eight-wicket success over Romsley and Hunnington.

In-form Sebastian Warwick battered 63 as Ross chased down 117 to win.

Both of Herefordshire’s Birmingham League ended their seasons with heavy defeats after fielding weakened sides.

In the Premier Division, Brockhampton were crushed by 173 runs at Himley after conceding 247-8.

The villagers, who finished in runners-up spot, slipped to 24-7 in reply at one point before tail-enders Andrew Watkins (20no) and Rhys Price (10) gave the score respectability.

Eastnor were beaten by an even heavier margin of 228 runs in their Division Two match at Attock.

The home side racked up 306-5 with Andrew Fisher (28no) and Clive Chadhani (16) the only players in double-figures as Eastnor were rushed out for 78.
