COLWALL will be looking to secure promotion back to Division One of the Worcestershire League when they entertain Netherton on Saturday.

The second-placed Malvern Hills club hold an eight-point advantage over third-placed Enville who have the tricky task of travelling to runaway leaders Harvington for their final match.

An opening stand of 187 between Tom Coleman, who smashed 23 fours and two sixes in his 133, and Dan Head (53) underpinned a Colwall total of 303-5 which helped them to a winning draw in a rain-affected match at Feckenham.

Coleman (2-23) also picked up a couple of wickets but Colwall’s chances of forcing a win were reduced by the loss of 10 overs to rain, allowing the hosts to reach 205-4 from 40 overs.

Also in Division Two, Wormelow’s Jamie Banfield celebrated passing the 1,000-run mark the previous week by battering a century against hapless Tenbury Wells.

The Australian’s fourth century of the season helped Wormelow to a 10-wicket win as he shared an unbroken opening partnership of 167 with skipper Ben Owens (57 not out).

If Colwall do secure promotion, they will take the place of fellow Herefordshire side Burghill and Tillington whose relegation has been confirmed after a poor five-wicket reverse at Pedmore.

Skipper Jack Hale scored 92 for Burghill but their total of 210 was overhauled by the hosts with 16 overs in hand.

Bromyard go into Saturday’s visit to mid-table Belbroughton knowing that victory will secure runners-up spot.

The latterly-unstoppable Flagonners Green side saw off Redditch by five wickets with Edd Oliver’s patient unbeaten 38 guiding them home after Greg Leighton (5-29) played a key role in bowling Redditch out for 107.

Top score of the day from a county batsman came in Division Three where Ross skipper Sebastian Warwick flayed the Alvechurch attack for 185.

Warwick’s team-mates chipped in well to take Ross to 356-9 but Alvechurch comfortably held on for a draw at 221-5.
