Tom McLean's double fires Wellington Football Club to 3-1 win over Darlaston in West Midlands League Premier Division

Wellington 3 Darlaston 1

CARETAKER boss Marc Priday knows his tactics after Wellington’s secondhalf substitute Tom McLean bagged a match-clinching brace.

Priday took over as caretaker manager after Derek Williams quit on the eve of the season and has lifted Wellington to 12th in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

“We have done OK – it’s been much better than we had hoped,” said Priday, who admits he doesn’t want the manager’s job on a longterm basis.

Former Ewyas Harold flyer Pete Wood put Wellington ahead before two-goal McLean joined the fray after the break, sealing their fifth league success.

Lowly Darlaston had the final word with a late consolation strike.

“It wasn’t very good in the first-half but we did OK in the second-half and it was much better,” said the experienced Priday.

Priday, whose Wellington side host Sporting Khalsa in their latest league clash this Saturday, thanked Graham Chamberlain for his help and the players for their support.
