Wales' defence coach Shaun Edwards puts Ledbury Rugby Club through their paces

WALES defence coach Shaun Edwards put Ledbury’s senior players through their paces and highlighted the importance of using basic skills.

Club spokesman Steve Burgess hopes to see the benefits in Saturday’s trip to Woodrush in Midlands Three West (South).

“Shaun was keen to emphasise specific technical points to achieve the high standards expected by Ledbury’s coaches Paul Rudland and Dave Barley,” he said.

“So much interest was generated that around 20 of our 15 and 16 yearolds, plus their coaches and managers, also came along.”

Ledbury had won a visit from the Rugby League legend in a draw and the evening ended with Edwards answering questions in the clubhouse.

Edwards is the latest in a line of big names coming to Ledbury Rugby Club.

Former England skipper Bill Beaumont was the guest speaker at a dinner to celebrate the launch of Ledbury's 130 year book.

Gloucester and England Saxons prop Nick Wood will be hosting a curry night on October 31.

The event is part of Nick’s benefit season and Ledbury are particularly pleased to welcome him because he has been coaching their players.

Tickets cost £20 and include a curry, a bottle of cider and a chance to take part in a question-and-answer session.
