Two goals from Thomas as Westfield sink Dunkirk

TWO goals from Aidan Thomas fired Westfields to a fine 2-1 win on one of their longer Midland Alliance trips of the season, to Nottingham-based Dunkirk.

It was also a happy day on the road for two of Herefordshire’s West Midlands League Premier Divison sides.

Pegasus picked up a creditable point from a 2-2 draw at fellow high-flyers Lye Town while Wellington gained all three from a 2-1 win at Willenhall.

Not such a good day, however, for the home sides – Bromyard were hammered 5-1 by Bewdley while, in Division 1, it was even worse for Leominster who were battered 9-2 at home by high-flying Smethwick.

In Division Two, Bartestree forced a 1-1 draw at basement-club Malvern Town Res.

In National Two North, it was a bad day for Luctonians who were overpowered 43-7 at leaders Stourbridge.

Hereford have, however, found their feet in Midlands One West and produced another big win at Wyeside, 46-18 over Barkers Butts.

Ledbury were beaten 29-22 at home by Evesham but Bromyard enjoyed a 30-20 success over Barton-under-Needwood and Greyhound were 17-12 winners in Coventry against Copsewood.
