Nick Hyett is king of the squash court at Hereford Whitecross club

NICK Hyett took the top prize when Hereford Whitecross Tennis and Squash Club held their annual squash championships over two weekends.
Hyett saw off the challenge of veteran Rob Reid in the final which produced an hour of high quality play.
Reid produced some excellent squash, keeping the ball tight to the wall and playing boasts to move Hyett around the court but the younger man eventually prevailed 9-3, 3-9, 9-4, 9-6.
The men's over-60s was arranged in two leagues of four with the top player in each league contesting a keenly-fought final where Graham Vanston beat Brian Haywood-Hughes 9-3, 9-5, 8-10, 10-9.
In third and fourth place were John Ridler and Tim Young. The ladies competition was also organized into two leagues with Sarah Flemming and Annie Little reaching the final where Flemming won 9-4,10-8, 6-9, 9-4.
In third and fourth place were Carla Thornewell and Sharron Haworth.
Alan Glass came up against Matt Prosser in the men’s plate final with Prosser winning 9-6, 10-8, 9-0.
