Win for Ross against Bredon Star in Gloucester 2

Bredon Star 18 pts Ross -on-Wye 30.

ROSS-on-Wye produced a comfortable Gloucester 2 away win after tasting defeat at home to Bream in their first league game.

Early on, the Ross defence held firm but the first score came as the Bredon number eight was driven over for a converted try with the game 15 minutes old. Ross opened their account with Chay Brine accelerating clear to score. The conversion was missed but Ross were back in the game.

Within minutes Ross took the lead. Another solid scrum saw the ball moved quickly across the backline for Brine to bag his second score.

Another solid scrum saw Ross move further ahead with Casey Morgan scoring a great forwards try. Brine converted to put Ross 17-7 ahead.

Ross then scored their fourth and bonus point try through Harry Haile before a late Bredon penalty took the gloss off a great first-half that saw Ross 22-10 ahead.

Bredon quickly added a penalty and try after the break to enter the last quarter only 22-18 behind.

But Ross reasserted themselves with a penalty and Brine’s hat-trick score to finish comfortable winners.
