Unbeaten start takes Wellington Reserves to top of Herefordshire League

A FIVE-game unbeaten start to the season has taken Wellington Reserves to the head of the Herefordshire League Premier Division.

But their latest victory, a 2-0 home success over Ewyas Harold , was marred by a bad injury to the visitors’ Matt Wilson which required an ambulance to be called and then saw the game halted with five minutes still remaining.

In a competitive match, Wellington took the lead in the second period when Owen Lloyd handled a Tom Herbert shot and Nick Panniers scored from the spot.

Wes Gammond sealed the win with Wellington’s second after a defensive error.

Westfields Reserves have gone second in the table after a 2-0 away win against Lads Club Reserves at Widemarsh Common.

But John Ferneyhough scored both Westfields Reserves.

Newly-promoted Sinkums are up to third after a 2-0 win at Bartestree Reserves.

Sinkums, who controlled the game throughout, took the lead when Dan Hughes headed in a corner in the 28th minute.

But the visitors missed plenty of chances before Scott Turner made the points safe with a 20-yard drive into the top corner.
