Westfields and Luctonians win again
10:22pm Saturday 15th September 2012 in Sport By Richard Prime
WESTFIELDS have continued their good form in the Midland Alliance, ahead of next week’s FA Cup clash at Solihull Moors, by beating Studley 2-1.
Richard Kear and Aiden Thomas bagged the goals for Fields.
With Pegasus enjoying a comfortable win in the FA Vase by beating Wolverhampton Sporting Community 3-0, it was a good day, too for the county’s West Midlands League Premier Division clubs as Wellington also won, 3-2 in the league at Wednesfield.
In the league’s division 2, though, it was not such a great day.
Bartestree and Lads Club gained 1-1 draws at Riverway and Penkridge respectively but Ledbury Town were beaten 4-2 at Newport Town.
There were mixed fortunes on the rugby pitch with Luctonians joint top of National Two North after a 26-23 win at Hull.
Luctonians chief Alex Davidson confirmed the Mortimer Park men had won and gained a try bonus point success.
Hereford were beaten 32-12 at Stratford-upon-Avon in Midlands One West and Bromyard lost 26-19 at home to Market Drayton in Midlands Four West (North).
There were celebrations, though, for Ledbury, who beat Pinley 26-15, and for Greyhound who marked their return to the Midlands section with a 25-23 success at Trinity Guild.
The Birmingham League cricket season ended with a six-wicket reverse for Brockhampton at Walsall but a 35-run win for Eastnor over Halesowen.
