Great start for Herefordshire's leading rugby clubs

HEREFORDSHIRE’s two leading rugby sides made an excellent start to their seasons with away wins.

And there was success to celebrate on the football field, too.

Luctonians travelled to Stockport in National Two North and returned with a useful points haul after a 24-16 victory.

And Hereford made a fine start to their Midlands 1 West campaign with a superb 37-3 win at local rivals Ludlow.

A goal from Jamie Cuss and an own goal helped Westfields to a 2-1 success over old rivals Coventry Sphinx.

And to complete a Hereford double over the West Midlands city, Pegasus Juniors beat Coventry Copsewood 4-3 to progress in the FA Vase.

Brockhampton remain in fourth place in the Premier Division of the Birmingham League despite a 38-run defeat by Himley.
