Ross-on-Wye beat Dudley Wasps in North Midlands Vase

ROSS-on-Wye are through to the second round of the North Midlands Vase after a comfortable win in a rain-disrupted tie in Dudley.

Ross, who won the competition in 2009 and 2010, made a bright start with winger Craig Smith speeding on to a perfecet pass from Casey Morgan to go over wide out.

Wasps’ winger levelled the scores but Morgan kicked a penalty before man-of-thematch Gareth Holdsworth wrong-footed the home fullback to go over under the posts. Morgan added the extra points.

A torrential thunderstorm at the start of the second period made handling particularly difficult during the half and Ross had few problems holding their lead.
