Herefordshire to take part in Badminton Shires League

HEREFORDSHIRE Under-15s will be represented in the Badminton Shires League for the first time ever this season.

To encourage the growth of badminton in Herefordshire, Herefordshire Badminton Academy are looking for a new crop of juniors.

Places can be booked at their regular Sunday sessions, which get under way again on September 9, by visiting herefordshirebadminton.

co.uk Young people living or attending school in the county took part in the Herefordshire Badminton Academy staged the annual Restricted Junior Doubles Tournament.

Results — Under 11 Boys: Nail Hodgson (St Mary’s, Credenhill ) and Sam Powers (St Mary’s, Fownhope ) beat Ben and Jake Perry (Riverside) 23-21.

Under 13 Boys: Will McGill (Hereford Cathedral school) and Ben Phillips (Hereford Cathedral School) beat Dom Larkin (Hereford Cathedral School) and Brandon Adams (St Francis Xavier).

Under 17 Boys: Callum Taylor (Blessed Edwards Oldcorn) and Luke Bailey (Fairfield) beat Ceri Middleton (Steiner Academy) and Jared Stanley (Whitecross) 13-15, 15-9, 16-14.

The Under 11 and Under 17 girls entrants were pooled together: Mhairi McGill (Hereford Cathedral school) and Hannah Larkin (St Mary’s) beat Libby Warren (Ledbury Primary) and Hatty Hastings (Clehonger Primary).
