Westfields make progress against Romulus in the FA Cup

WESTFIELDS were the only county side to progress in the FA Cup after beating Romulus 2-1 in the competition's preliminary round at allpay.park.

Richard Kear gave Fields the lead inside 90 seconds and then Dene Whittall-Williams bagged the winner after the visitors had levelled from the penalty spot late in the first period.

It was not such a good day for Pegasus Juniors who went down 2-1 at Sutton Coldfield despite a Mark Davies goal.

And Wellington also suffered a disappointing exit, beaten 5-3 at home by fellow West Midlands League Premier Division side Bewdley.

Bartestree have gone second in Division 2 of the West Midlands League after a 4-3 win over Malvern Rangers.

And Ledbury Town notched their first success, a 2-1 win at Ettingshall Park Farm, since they returned to the competition.

Elsewhere, not for the first time this summer, the weather played havoc with the programme.

Bromyard Town's home clash with Malvern Town in the West Midlands League Premier Division was washed out.

And, cricket in the Birmingham League alsoi suffered a soggy fate with both Brockhampton and Eastnor's matches abandoned.
