Daventry success for Hereford Roller Girls

EMMA Hughes and Zoe Butler picked up top honours as five Hereford Roller Girls shone in a open bout in Daventry.

Hughes was named best jammer and Butler won the best blocker award as The White Hats sealed a 51- point victory.

The duo were joined by Hereford trio Julie Truelove, Kim Wild and Victoria Branson for the match against the Carpe Demons.

Hereford Roller Girls’ spokesman Dee Montague said: “Our girls were amazing, especially considering they were competing with and against strangers.

“It was the first open doors bout which three of them had competed in.”

The White Hats led 57-47 at the interval and overpowered their rivals in the second period to wrap up a 128-77 success For more details about Hereford Roller Girls email: dee@ deemontague.com

Well done Hereford Times! You are ahead of the curve in terms of reporting on roller derby. Rather than another "look at these women getting fit in a strange new way," you have elected to treat this sport as a sport. You report on stars and scores, just as any sport deserves. I, for one, salute you.
