Late equaliser costs Leominster Town against Shenstone

Leominster Town 2 Shenstone Pathfinders 2.

TOWN should have taken three points from their opening match in the new West Midlands Regional League Division One campaign, but lost two to a hotly contested late equaliser.

With Town’s offside claims waved away, the Briarwood Boys threw everything into going after a winner as the second half ran down, but Shenstone had their keeper - and a string of instinctive saves - to thank for hanging on.

Co-bosses Mike Symonds and Nick Barnett can take heart from the football Town played, with close season capture Paul Jones prominent in many well-worked attacks.

Town opened the scoring in the first half when Dean Jordan swooped on a overhead kick from Ben Price to slam home.

On the stroke of half-time Shenstone equalised through a penalty. Town took the lead again on the hour through Steve Williams and should have sealed a win well before Shenstone scored again late on.
