CHRIS Mortlock was on target for Pegasus Juniors in a 4-0 win over Gloucester City Development side in their opening warm-up match at Old School Lane.
The returning Mortlock pounced from close range to open the scoring early in the second period.
An own goal from Dan Gittings extended Pegasus’ lead before ex-Hereford Lads Club man Richard Harrison converted.
Cory Hyde rounded off the scoring after a pass from Mortlock, who was at higher-graded Shortwood United last term. Richard Kear hit a consolation goal for Westfields, who were beaten 2-1 at Welsh outfit Haverfordwest County.
Craig Fraker scored for the hosts with a dipping shot after just three minutes and Jamie Evans added a second before the break.
Richard Kear reduced arrears when he headed in a Simon Gwynne cross but the city side were unable to get back on level terms. New-signing Luke Winter bagged his maiden goal for Wellington in a 2-1 defeat at Rhayader Town in an Invitation Cup match.
Boss Derek Williams was pleased with Winter, who has joined Wellington from Holme Lacy. Wellington host Caerleon on Saturday.

Herefordshire FA referee development officer Sean Dipple said: “Both referees are part of our HFA referee development programme and have shown a willingness to learn and develop their skills as a referee.”
