Hugh Aggleton's new course record in Darrens Dash hill race

HUGH Aggleton set a new course record in winning this year’s Darrens Dash hill race.
The MDC runner completed the sixmile course, which incorporates climbs of 1,500 feet, in 43 minutes and 11 seconds.
The race, which was organised as a partnership between Longtown School PTFA, Longtown Pre-School and Wye Valley Runners, attracted 77 runners including a number running with dogs.
Second place went to Sean Taylor of Mynydd Du in a time of 44.42 with third place and first veteran going to John Pullen of Wye Valley Runners in a time of 45.05.
The first lady home was Emma Bayliss from Mynydd Du in 53.33, followed by Nicola Gething of Parc Bryn Bach in 56.16 and Fiona Turner of Forest of Dean AC in 58.45.
For full race results go to: wyevalleyrunners.co.uk The children’s races attracted 35 entrants aged four to 12 with Will Lovejoy of Cross Ash a convincing winner of the under-12 category while Sadie Lloyd of Longtown won the under-eights category.
“Many thanks to all runners who took part and a big thank you to Longtown Mountain Rescue Team who provided essential marshals on the hill and to the farmers or landowners who let us use their land,” said organiser Mike Fawcett.
Race drinks and trophies were sponsored by Black Mountain Mineral Water company and more than £800 was raised for Longtown PTFA and Pre-School and Longtown Mountain Rescue Team.
