Herefordshire men seal 136-85 success over Mid-Glamorgan at Weobley Bowling Club

HEREFORDSHIRE’S men roared to a 136 shots to 85 victory over Mid-Glamorgan in their annual bowls match at Weobley.

The county won four rinks overall as they secured a comfortable success.

Dave Holloway skipped the highest winning rink, with Keith Price in excellent form at lead well backed by Mike Horsfall at second and Frank Garrett having his usual fine game at third.

They fully outclassed the visitors and, after leading 18- 2 at the half-way stage, won seven of the remaining ends for a 36-11 success.

Ron Perry's rink also had a fine win, with Joe Millis and Guy Sandford having an excellent match at the frontend and John Harris at third giving great support to his skip. They conceded only eight singles in a 26-8 win.

The rink skipped by John Wear was always ahead and won by 34 shots to 13, and Mansell Havard's rink had a close match and played well to win 18-16.

Don Pugh's rink had a close match and were unfortunate to lose 20-19, and the remaining rink skipped by Russ Jones also fought well before going down 17-13.
