Herefordshire and Shropshire washed out in Minor Counties Championship clash
3:00pm Wednesday 27th June 2012 in Sport
HEREFORDSHIRE’S sodden start to their Minor Counties Championship campaign continued at Colwall as their clash with Shropshire splashed to a conclusion with only 53 overs bowled.
Heavy overnight rain on Saturday prevented any play on Sunday and, with concern being expressed over the bowlers’ run-ups, it was impossible to make a start until after tea on the second day.
Then a storm on Tuesday morning interrupted play and prevented any continuation.
Herefordshire had won the toss and elected to bat with Brockhampton duo Dave Exall (38) and Ben Stebbings (12) posting 61 for the first wicket.
Skipper Chris Boroughs (nine), Steve Adshead (25) and Charlie Walker (19) all perished but all-rounder Brad Wadlan was going well when the rain began to fall The Bridgend and Unicorns player had struck eight fours and a six in his unbeaten 63 from 77 balls and had then added an unbeaten 38 with Andy Kimberlin (five not out) at stumps.
Herefordshire now travel to Sidmouth to take on Devon on Sunday, July 8.

Colwall prevailed 2-1 in the shoot-out at Clenchers Mill Lane after rain prevented play in Sunday’s Herefordshire and Powys regional final.
