Puncture costly for Hereford Motocross Club chairman Rob Prosser

A PUNCTURE cost Hereford rider Rob Prosser the chance of a top-three finish in the opening round of the AMCA National Two Stroke & Veterans Championship in Welshpool.

Hereford Motocross Club chairman Prosser finished fourth in the Veterans Championship in a field containing the very best veteran riders in the country but seemed set for better following a brilliant second in race two.

But a puncture in the final race saw him limp round for the second half of the race, unable to push for the top positions.

Prosser’s brother Andy finished 12th overall but also missed out on a better finish after suffering a mechanical problem in the second race.

Four Hereford Club riders were in contention in the 2-Stroke Championship with Terry Lloyd and Sam Callow, in sixth and seventh respectively, leading the charge.

Lloyd looked strong on his 125cc machine, under powered against many 250cc machines in the open class field.

Bromyard-based Callow continued his early season form with a solid finish.

In 12th was Scott Donativo, who defied illness to hang on for valuable points.

Tom Card also showed strongly to finishing 17th overall.

All six riders head to Lancashire next for round two.
