Andy Sparks wins latest Hereford Wheelers event at Stretton Sugwas

HEREFORD Wheelers’ third 25-mile time trail of the season on the Stretton Sugwas course saw Andy Sparks follow up his win in the previous event for another success in a time of one hour, two minutes 42 seconds.

Fellow Wheeler Alex Haines improved on his previous third place to take second in 1:03:18 with Ian Rivers in third in 1:04:10.

The women’s race was won convincingly by Sarah Lloyd Stephens with an excellent time of 1:06:29 from second place Debbie Clark in 1:18:53.

Bev Jones was third in 1:22:33.

Sixteen-year-old Luke Allen, riding his first 25m time trial, recorded a time of 1:27:04 and will hope to improve this in the next 25 event in July.

Today (Thursday) sees the club’s annual two-up team time trial on the Leominster course, starting at 6.30pm.
