Hereford swim ace Hugo set for Sheffield after national qualifying time achieved

CITY of Hereford swimmer Hugo Lemar has made it to the top level of British swimming after gaining his first British National qualifying time in the 200-metre backstroke.

Hugo, 12, achieved the time at the Derventio Excel open meet in Sheffield, and will now join fellow elite squad member Patrick Blake in representing the city club at the national championships in Sheffield this summer.

Head coach Alex Dallimore is proud of his swimmer.

“Hugo has worked hard to reach this level, and it has really paid off,” he said.

“He is still very early in his swimming career, but is showing huge potential and a great attitude to his training.”
