Joe is eight-wicket hero for Glangrwyney

JOE Bowker was the hero for Glangrwyney as his eight wickets won the game against Builth Wells by just one run in Marches League Division One.

Bowker even got himself a hat-trick to finish with very impressive figures of 8-15, while his dad Phil got the other two wickets.

Builth won the toss and decided to bowl, which seemed the right decision as they skittled out Glangrwyney for just 118 runs.

But despite Adam Morgan (45) and Anthony Mead (31) trying their best to get the required runs, their efforts were not enough as the Bowkers ripped through their line-up to win by the narrowest of margins.

Garnons had a day to remember as they beat reigning champions Luctonians by 116 runs.

Kevin Hurds (4-16) and John Lewis (3-32) helped Weobley beat Abergavenny by 33 runs.

In Division Two, Richard Thorn’s 131 was key to Almeley’s 83-run victory against Bosbury while Mark Waldock’s 103 ensured that Talgarth crushed Strollers, Hereford, by 116 runs.

In Division Three, Ayrton Lowther (67) and Sam Griffiths (54 not out) saw Goodrich 2nd home as they beat Luctonians 2nd by six wickets.

An unbeaten 62 from wicket- keeper David Robinson was enough to see Bartestree & Lugwardine 2nd beat Colwall 3rd by seven wickets, while Neil Powell got five wickets as Brockhampton 3rd were skittled out for just 78 to give his Presteigne side a 123-run win.

In Division Four, an unbeaten 27 by Robert Yeoman saw Ledbury 2nd get the required 81 runs needed to beat Widemarsh Lads Club by seven wickets.

And in Division Five, an unbeaten 125 by wicketkeeper Josh Loade saw Brockhampton Four’s smash Luctonians 3rd by 138 runs.

Brockhampton finished with 215-4 off their 45 overs and then bowled out Luctonians for just 77, with Hew Meredith finishing with figures of 5-33.

Ross-on-Wye 3rd also enjoyed success, beating Bosbury 2nd by seven wickets
