Hereford United hitman Adrian Foster remembered for miss against Brighton
ADRIAN Foster scored 16 goals in Hereford United’s relegation season but knows he’s remembered for one that he didn’t put away.
Deep into stoppage-time, Foster got behind Brighton’s defence and, with one last chance to save United’s Football League status, the 26-year-old shot straight at the goalkeeper.
“The ball was flicked on and a defender gave me a slight tug and it was enough to stop me from getting my shot off,” he said.
“I was tugged but I don’t know if that was inside or outside the box.
“I watched it back on YouTube about three months ago and I thought that I should have done better.”
“I felt sorry for the fans — I felt we under-achieved that season and let them down.”
Foster is now 41, lives in Yeovil and is manager at non-league Gillingham Town.
The former Torquay striker added: “Hereford must work harder than they have worked in any other game.
When you dig deeper than you ever have before, sometimes things happen.
“I am keeping my fingers crossed that Hereford can do it on Saturday and I want to send my best wishes to all the players and fans.”
