Dream over for Luctonians and a tough battle ahead for Westfields

LUCTONIANS and Westfields both suffered disastrous days on the road.

Luctonians dream of a play-off position in National 2 North came to an end when they were beaten 51-23 at Caldy, who claimed the spot for themselves.

While Westfields slip back to third in Midland Alliance after a second successive 4-1 defeat, this time at Loughborough University.

Gresley, who beat second-placed Coventry Sphinx 2-1, now lead the table and have one match more to play than their two rivals.

Bromyard Town drew 0-0 at Bustleholme in the Premier Division of the West Midlands League but trail their rivals by three points with three games remaining.

Pegasus Juniors also picked up a point from a 1-1 draw at Shawbury United but Wellington were beaten 3-0 at home by Wolverhampton Casuals.

In Division 1, Leominster Town were beaten 8-1 at Wombourne while Lads Club confirmed second place in Division 2 with a 3-1 win at Ettingshall Park Farm.

Hereford rounded off their disappointing campaign in National 3 Midlands when they lost 29-7 at Newport.

Ledbury are not yet confirmed as champions of Midlands Four West (South) after a 37-12 win at Coventry Welsh.

Althouth they are eight points clear of rivals Old Wheatleyans, their rivals still have two games left to play and could overhaul the Herefordshire club with two wins and a bonus point.

No such worries for Midlands Five West North champions Bromyard who won 44-0 at Warley to complete their perfect season.

Brockhampton’s Birmingham League Smith and Williamson Trophy clash at Barnt Green was abandoned with the hosts on 107-6 after 30 overs.
