HALO Leisure’s Holly Penwarden and Hereford United vice-chairman Tim Russon had the clearest crystal balls in 2011.

The duo correctly guessed the outcome of four sporting events - they tied for first place in the Hereford Times’ county sporting prediction chart.

Holly and Tim were among 18 county personalities featured in the paper on December 30, 2010 and asked to predict the outcome of six sporting occasions.

Ten people predicted three outcomes but, at the other end of the table, Westfields’ chief executive Andy Morris took the wooden spoon with just one successful guess.

Seventeen people correctly said that Chelsea would fail to retain their FA Premier League title.

And 15 people rightly gazed into the sporting future to predict that New Zealand would win the Rugby World Cup.

Only hockey player Emily Tompkins, Russon and Garnons cricketer Steve Newton tipped India to lift the Cricket World Cup.

But the Hereford United question left everyone stumped - no-one predicted the Bulls would finish 21st in League 2.

However, United boss Jamie Pitman would have been spot-on - he said the team would finish 16th - had the Bulls not been deducted three points.

Hereford bodybuilder Dave Kitt used his muscle power to predict the sporting future in 2010.

Kitt followed in the footsteps of another bodybuilder, Lindsay Bruce, who finished top of the Hereford Times’ sporting predictions chart in 2009.
