MERCURIAL French striker Mathieu Manset is the man who can haul Hereford United off the bottom of the Football League.
That’s the verdict from on-loan midfielder Rob Purdie who has likened Manset to Hereford’s Cameroonian legend Guy Ipoua.
“Manny is a massive player for us - he’s bit like Guy Ipoua,” said Purdie.
“When Manny gets the ball, you never know what he’s going to do. If he’s on form, you know that he can do something special for the team. He gives defenders a tough time and if he’s on top form, he’s the one player who can help us get up the table.”
Manset is Hereford’s leading scorer this season and has hit seven goals in the last nine matches.
“We also have Sean Canham, Guillem Bauza and Stuart Fleetwood and they are all strikers who offer something different,” said Purdie. “I feel there’s lots of goals in us. I think we’re playing quite well although we sometimes sit off a bit too much.
But that’s something that Jamie Pitman wants us to work on.”
