And Hereford's campaign also got off to a losing start when theur were beaten 36-20 at Newport.

The county's cricketers did not fare so well, however, with Brockhampton's promotion prospects all but disappearing after a defeat by Wombourne.
Eastnor remain at the top of their division but, after a defeat by Sutton Coldfield, could now be overhauled by two other clubs if results go against them in their final game next weekend.
