Scott still second after two top-two finishes


SCOTT Moran kept a firm grip on second place in the British Hill Climb Championship series when he contested two rounds at Gurston Down on Sunday.

The Orleton racing driver rocketed up the 1,160 yards Wiltshire track at speeds of up to 150mph to win the morning round in 25.97 seconds.

Martin Groves was next on 26.19 followed by Tom New on 26.24. Roger Moran took seventh with 27.07 and Deryk Young was ninth with 27.45.

Groves fought back to win the afternoon run-off with 26.14. Scott was second on 26.30 and Chris Merrick finished third with 26.42. Roger was sixth on 26.71 and Young took eighth with 27.10.

A close contest in the 2,000cc roadgoing sportscar category ended with four competitors clocking times below the course record for the class.

Dave Wilson from Luston was second with 33.26 and Bromyard driver Joy Hoyle was fourth on 33.34.

The top award for best time of the day went to Scott Moran.
