Brockhampton ease back into the promotion race

B R O C K H A M P T O N bounced back from their defeat the previous weekend, and with other results going their way, moved back into the promotion race after beating Attock by four wickets at their Wake Green Road Ground.

They knocked the runs off with four overs to spare after bowling Attock out for 197.

Brockhampton, who picked up maximum points, now trail second- placed Old Hill by just eight points.

Attock made a slow start and lost four wickets before Nasir Ali Khan (58) and Sultan Mahmood (23) upped the run-rate. Adam Hewlett (2-39) then took two wickets in two balls to put the pressure back on the home side.

Sarfraz Ali (46) batted sensibly until he became one of two late run outs.

Attock were eventually dismissed in the final over with Chris Boroughs (4-58) and Richard Parker (2-48) taking the other wickets.

Hewlett (27) and Boroughs (42) joined forces with Ben Stebbings, to put Brockhampton firmly in to a winning position.

Imran Ali took three wickets to cause a bit of a wobble and, with Junaid Khan also shifting Stebbings for 97 (13 fours and one six), there was some relief in the visitors' camp when they crossed the winning line with something to spare.
