Ross-on-Wye 18 pts Old Richians 28.
ROSS made too many mistakes during the first hour of their home game with promotion-seeking Old Richians.
And a last-quarter rally proved to be too little too late, condemning the south Herefordshire club to their second defeat in six Gloucester Premier Division games in the High Bridge Jewellers League.
Both sides made a nervous start, but the Gloucester-based side were first to settle and took the lead when their winger squeezed over in the corner. Both sides continued to make mistakes and shared four penalties to make the score 11-6 in favour of the Old Boys.
In a key moment, number eight Adam Clements scooped the ball up from the back of a ruck and charged over the Richians line. The referee blew up and pulled play back for an earlier altercation, leaving Ross still trailing at the break.
Richians pulled well away in the third quarter. A spirited recovery in the final quarter ended with Wayne Williams and Tim Hanks scoring consolation tries.
