Herefordshire FA 2 Lincolnshire FA 1 GOALS from Will Loughman and Lance Jones led Herefordshire to a Midland Counties Under-18 Youth Championship victory at Bromyard.

Herefordshire almost opened the scoring early on when a visiting defender hacked the ball off the line.

Matt Croose marshalled the Herefordshire defence and Loughman opened the scoring on 32 minutes after fine play by Brendan Hackett.

Jones brought a brave stop from the visiting goalkeeper and then, in a rare Lincolnshire attack, Scott Phillips cleared off the line.

Josh Nicholls hit a surprise leveller for Lincolnshire on the stroke of half time after Herefordshire had failed to clear a corner.

But Herefordshire hit back almost immediately and Jones fired home after more good work from Hackett.

Herefordshire controlled the second half with Will Tolley and Jones both drawing good saves from the visiting stopper.

l Injury-hit Herefordshire Schools under-14 went down 5-2 at Woverhampton in a Midlands Schools League clash.

Tom Brock and Danny Sharpe, both of Minster College, scored for Herefordshire.
