THE Bromash stable of Marilyn Scudamore and jockey Tom Weston were the team to follow at the weekend when they score a treble at the Ross Harriers point to point meeting at Garnons.

After an hour's delay to racing to allow overnight frost to come out of the ground, the partnership struck in the opening Hunt race when Waynesworld confirmed his odds-on status with a fluent six-length success.

Debutant 16-year-old jockey Lucy Turner taking a crashing fall at the final fence from her mount Cracking Cliché when challenging for second place.

The middle leg of the treble was in the Men's Open race when Worship The Stars confirmed that he is back to his best of last year when he ran up a sequence of victories with a battling four-length win.

Weston sent his mount to the front in the back-straight of the final circuit and Worship The Stars stayed on determinedly in typical fashion from the chasing Beau Michel and Slow To Part. The winner may now return to the hunterchase scene.

The treble was completed in the first division of the Maiden race where the Scaudamore-Weston team scored with Abbotts Mount who recorded an easy 20-length win.

The treble was Weston’s second in two days, following three wins at the Beaufort Hunt meeting, and the Worcestershire-based jockey is now attracting support for the National riders' Championship.

Jockey Adrian Wintle, aboard previous course winner, Ice Cool Benny was sent off an odds-on favourite in the Confined race but favourite backers were not happy as throughout the final circuit he was harried by Tragic Realm and Hoh Nelson. This seemed to unsettle Ice Cool Benny and at the final fence, despite all Wintle’s endeavours, he refused.

This left Tragic Realm and Bristol University Chemistry undergraduate Josephine Banks to take the victory.

“It was harder to do what he did than jump the fence, perhaps the ground is quicker than he likes,” said Wintle.

Veteran trainer Dick Baimbridge sent out another winner at the track. His Shernally, bought at Ascot Sales out of Martin Oliver's yard for only 1,700gns, stayed on stoutely in the Restricted Open to deprive Weston of a four-timer by only a neck from his mount Lorikarad.
