Second straight win on the road for Ross

1:30pm Thursday 11th March 2010

Bristol Saracens 13 pts Ross-on-Wye 19.

THE Ross forwards were in prime form as the south Herefordshire club notched a second win on the road in consecutive weekends.

The win enabled Ross to pull further away from the relegation zone in the High Bridge Jewellers Gloucester Premier Division.

The Ross pack produced a physical performance to disrupt the Saracens play and set up the winning position in a tight encounter.

The Herefordshire side led 6-3 at the break and then eased themselves back in front after falling behind in a lack-lustre start to the second half.

James Hughes kicked two penalties in the first 40 minutes to cancel out one from the Bristol side.

In a slow start to the second half, Saracens ran in two tries to lead 13-6 by the hour-mark.

Under pressure from the Ross pack, Saracens lost possession in midfield to spark the revival.

Huw Bellamy picked up and set the backs in play. The ball went down the line to release Casey Morgan and he outpaced the cover defence to score in the corner.

The south Hereford-shire side kept up the pressure and Hughes edged them ahead with another penalty.

Prop Tara Barnett pounced on another loose ball in midfield to release Morgan for his second dash to the line. He reached his goal to seal the win.
