Luctonians 36 pts Longton 0
LUCTONIANS produced a five-try display to power past Longton at Mortimer Park in National 3 Midlands.
The Herefordshire side’s uncompromising forward power helped them to open up an unassailable 17-0 advantage at the break.
Paul Hulland bagged a brace of tries, while hooker Nick Byron, centre Alex Smith and prop Anthony Marfell also crossed for in-form Luctonians.
The only disappointment for Luctonians was an early injury to skipper Chris Jaques.
Luctonians took the lead with an early penalty from scrum-half Jamie Simpson and Byron soon crossed for converted try - his 11 of the season.
Alex Smith cantered over five minutes before the break and Simpson converted which put Luctonians 17 points in front.
The home side’s forward pressure told as the second half progressed.
Luctonians added three more tries, and full-back Mike Thompson landed two conversions to round off a good day.
