Football manager dies ahead of Hereford United clash

Macclesfield Town have announced that their manager Keith Alexander has died at the age of 53.

Hereford United are due to play Macclesfield at Edgar Street on Saturday.

Macclesfield chairman Mike Rance has spoken to Hereford chairman Graham Turner and a decision as to whether Saturday's game will go ahead will be made by his family shortly.

Speaking on the club's official website, Turner said that everyone had been shocked and saddened by the news.

"Saturday's game against Macclesfield Town now becomes of small significance compared to this news," he said.

"Our condolences go out to his family and friends and all at Macclesfield Town FC.

"We fully support the decision to allow Keith's family to decide if Saturday's game goes ahead."

The match kicks off at 3pm.
