THE snow cleared just in time for the Hereford Schools District Cross Country Championships and ideal conditions produced some epic racing.

Inter girl Clara Evans (Aylestone) won her fifth title in style, but had to work hard to defeat Tilly Jewell (St Mary's) and Naomi Prosser (Hereford Sixth Form College), winner of the Senior race.

Emma Parry Jones (Hereford Cathedral School) and Olivia Hale (Fairfield) won their respective Year 7 and Junior Girls' races with ease as did J Helme (Bishop's) in the boys year 7 race.

Christian Porter (HCS), winner of the Junior Boys race, was up against strong opposition from O Spink (Bishop's) and C Mackie (St Mary's) and did not manage to gain the upper hand until the latter stages of the race.

Will Maul (Bishop's) added the Inter Boys title to his medal haul, but had to sprint hard in the closing stages to stave off a strong challenge from team mate Henry Eastman.

John Barnes (HSFC) looked impressive as he opened up a commanding lead to win the Senior Boys race, with George Miles (John Kyrle), Tom Stokes (HSFC) and Jordan Knight (HSFC) all finishing strongly to claim the minor medals.
