Hereford and District Wheelers Cycling Club held their annual Prize Giving Lunch at Hedley Lodge, Belmont Abbey.
Around 50 members enjoyed the three-course Carvery in the large hall with the top table reserved for the glittering cups and trophies with some showing history of well over 50 years.
The 2009 season was very busy for the club racing members with a series of fifteen 10 mile events, four 25 mile events as well as the Haugh Wood Hill-climb event.
AWARDWINNERS Dave Taylor (Handicap 25m Cup); Roger Morris (Club Attendance Trophy); Guy Evans (Veteran Best All Round Champion (BAR), Middle Markers 25m Cup); Ian Peake (30m Trophy); Ian Rivers (Fastest Club 10m Trophy, Scratch 25m Cup and 1st in Best 10m events); Jon Tetley (April 25m Cup, Hill Climb Champion and End of Season 25m Trophy); Debbie Clarke (2nd Lady in Best 10m events); Chris Hughes (Club Person of the Year); Sarah Lloyd-Stephens ( Women’s Best All Round Champion (BAR) and 1st Lady in Best 10m events); Simon Geary (Senior Best All Round Champion (BAR) and 50m mile Trophy); Andy Sparks (2nd Veteran on Standard).
In the popular 15-race series of 10-mile Time Trials, Steven Fortey took first prize in the Handicap section with 263 points.
The Handicap series was sponsored by Mark Greenhill of ‘Coombes Cycles’ Hereford.
