IAN Rivers and Jon Tetley secured the top two places at Allensmore in Hereford Wheelers Cycling Club’s eighth 10-mile event of the series.
Sarah Lloyd-Stephens was the first female home but she was almost caught by second-placed rider Nicola Goodwin.
Sixty riders enjoyed perfect racing conditions at last Thursday’s event.
It was the second largest turnout for the ‘10’ in the club’s history.
The 10-mile series has attracted 109 individual riders this year from 16 to 72 years of age.
At more than 70 years of age, M+D Cycles Gordon Butler rode his first race less than four months ago after a hip replacement operation.
Ed Deutsch, aged 17, rode his first ever ‘10’ in a time of 30 minutes and 24 seconds.
More ladies are starting to enjoy their cycling and 11 female riders tackled last week’s circuit.
The top five positions were: 1 Ian Rivers 22.26, 2 Jon Tetley 23.08, 3 Richard Lambert 23.48, 4 Andy Sparks 23.53, 5 Chris Hughes 24.08.
The leading five ladies were: 1 Sarah Lloyd-Stephens 26.56, 2 Nicola Goodwin 27.00, 3 Gaby McDermott 27.33, 4 Tricia Wright 28.20, 5 Kathryn King 29.39.
The 10-mile event returns tonight (Thursday) at the Yazor course, starting at 7pm.
