Westfields appoint Rawle as new assistant manager

FORMER Malvern Town manager Joe Rawle is the new assistant boss of Westfields.

Rawle will assist boss John Layton for the Hereford club’s Midland Football Allliance campaign.

He joins the management team of Layton and Sean Edwards, director of football.

Rawle helped Malvern from the West Midland League to the Midland Football Alliance.

He was then involved with the Worcestershire outfit when they were promoted to the Southern League Midland Division. He managed the team last season.

“Joey Rawle is an experienced manager at non-league level and we are delighted that he has joined our managerial staff to assist Layton,” said Westfields chief executive, Andy Morris.

“His knowledge of Midlands football is invaluable and I am sure he will help us to bring one or two fresh players into the Midland Alliance team that we need as we want to be improving on our league position last season and challenge in the top six.”

Fields have confirmed their pre-season friendly programme with two away and three home fixtures.

The Midlands Alliance club open up with an away trip to Screwfix Western League Premier Division side Brislington away at Bristol on Saturday, July 18.

The following Saturday, Westfields travel to British Gas Midland Division League side Stourport Swifts.

Westfields' first home pre-season friendly is at allpay.park on July 30 when they entertain Midland Combination side Pershore Town.

The following Saturday, August 1, Westfields entertain Hellenic League Premier Division side Fairford Town at allpay.park, with a match between the clubs' reserves sides following on afterwards.

The final pre-season friendly will be Tuesday, August 4 when Westfields entertain Dudley Sports, kick-off 7.30pm.

Westfields home MFA league season will kick-off at allpay.park on Saturday, August 8.

“We have agreed with the MFA to alternate our home league fixtures with those of Hereford United so we will not clash with home games as last season," said Morris.

Westfields’ FA Cup place too has been secured and the Extra Preliminary Round is scheduled for Saturday, August 15 and the draw will be made in July.

Westfields have also offered Pegasus dates for the annual Dennis Hartland Memorial Trophy.

Meanwhile, Westfields’ Herefordshire Premier Division side will meet Ewyas Harold in the HFL Charity Shield Final on Wednesday, August 26 at Hinton FC.

l Westfields’ players report back for pre-season training next Tuesday.
