THE long-serving former head of PE at Weobley High School, Richard Wydenbach, has won Herefordshire Sports Council's Service to Sport Award.
Wydenbach has retired from his head of department role at the Herefordshire school after an impressive 30-year stint.
He taught sports at school level, which included cricket, football and athletics, and also either organised or was team manager for county representative teams.
Wydenbach has also had an active role at Hereford & County Athletics Club where he officiated in matches and championships and also acted as a public address announcer for 20 years.
Wydenbach has also served on many Herefordshire county sporting organisations, including the Herefordshire Schools' FA.
Former swimming coach Trixie Pulsford has been highly commended in the category.
Trixie has retired from Ross-on-Wye Swimming Club after 29 years.
She was the head coach for 27 of those years in which she produced swimmers who progressed to a national level.
Some of those swimmers went on to compete in the Commonwealth Games and set county records.
Trixie helped the Ross club secure Swim 21 status and helped provide opportunities for swimmers with learning difficulties.
She also ran non-swimming sessions, developed the National Teaching Plan and was involved in the organisation of local leagues.
Now having retired, Trixie is President of the Worcester Swimming Association.
