THE popularity of the Herefordshire Junior Football League's winter Futsal program for the two youngest age groups continued to grow this year.

In the fifth year that the programme has ran 24 teams took part in the under-eight age competition and 27 teams in the under-nines.

Both age groups were split into three random drawn leagues and after four weeks of games were again split in to three new leagues of more equal ability namely Red, Amber and Green Leagues.

In the under-eight category the stronger Red League saw Leominster Minors and Ross Juniors take the top two places to win the right to play in the Daniel Cooper Memorial Cup at a later date at Edgar Street.

In Green League it was Hereford Lads Club who took top spot while Belmont Wanderers won the Amber League and both teams were presented with a cup and medals.

A similar format was used for the under-nine category, but all three league winners received a cup and medals on the final day.

Pegasus Juniors were eventual victory in the Red League while Orleton FC won the Amber league and Ludlow FC the Green League.
