JUNIOR golfers from The Herefordshire narrowly missed out on a National Finals place after suffering a one point defeat in the Shropshire & Herefordshire Junior Handicap League Finals.
Played at Burghill Valley Golf club the semi-final matches saw Oswestry lose to Horsehay Village 4-1 and The Herefordshire beat Shifnal 3-2.
In the final the Herefordshire team of Morgan Radziejowski, Oliver Maund, Adam Evans, Sam Bennett and Tom Mansell were beaten 3-2 by Horsehay Village.
The winners will now play in the National Finals at Frilford Heath Golf Club.
Another junior golfer also showed his potential recently by winning the Kington Open.
The nett competition was won by Kington junior Sam Jones after hitting an impressive level par gross score 70 off a handicap of eight to produce a nett 62 to win the cup.
