DEBUTANT Jennison Myrie-Williams hopes that he can get Hereford over the promotion line after signing on a non-contract basis yesterday.

The 29-year-old winger who left National League side Torquay United earlier this month made an immediate impact at Edgar Street rifling home the opening goal from 30 yards during a 2-1 win over Weymouth.

Promotion rivals Weymouth had stifled Pete Beadle’s side attack until a moment of brilliance from Myrie-Williams saw his shot fly in off the bar.

“I have scored a few like that before but I enjoyed it, I like to score goals and create goals so it was nice to pull it off,” said Myrie-Williams

“It opened up for me so I moved it onto my left foot and luckily for me it went in and I’m really happy with it.”

Myrie-Williams only signed for Hereford yesterday (Friday) and hadn’t met his team-mates before being thrown into the starting 11.

After leaving Torquay United earlier this month Myrie-Williams was contacted by Hereford FC manager Pete Beadle earlier this week.

“He is just a positive guy who said come and play games and enjoy it, added Myrie-Williams

“He said ‘I know what you can do, express yourself and help us get over the line.’

“It’s good to be back playing football and the main thing today was the three points which was great.

“The last couple of years I haven’t been playing as much football as I previously had but the main thing for me was playing football right now and whatever comes next comes next.

“I love a challenge so I just want to help the boys, they have been doing unbelievable so far.

“I want to help the boys get towards what they deserve and that’s promotion.”

Myrie-Williams played 15 games on loan at Hereford United during the 2009 season and has made has made over 200 Football League appearances in his career.

“I’m just trying to build my fitness up now and able to do what I do for longer periods of the game so I’ll take a few games to get up to the 90 minutes speed but I’m enjoying my football at the moment," he added.

“The fans were very good, it hasn’t changed much and I enjoyed it.”
