LEOMINSTER Town Football Club have contacted the police after their pitches were damaged by quad bikes.

Chairman Mark Lloyd took to Facebook to vent his anger, starting that a lot of effort had been spent maintaining the surface during the winter months.

"Everyone at our club works so hard all year to enable the people of Leominster the best pitches we can provide, and one or two days of brainless action has ruined part of that," he said.

Spokesman Sharon Fellowes added that CCTV footage has since been reviewed and some names have been put forward.

"The pitches were not playable at the weekend, so we had to reverse the fixtures," said Fellowes, who added that 18 teams take advantage of the facilities.

"It takes a lot to maintain the pitches and some mindless damage of vandalism has broken that.

"We have had to cancel a lot of matches because of the dampness in order to protect the pitches.

"It's just mindless and sadly sums some of the youth of today."
