DAN Preston looks to have played his last game for Hereford after he decided to play for Bromsgrove Sporting yesterday.

The Bulls were short of defenders, with a flu epidemic hitting the club.

And with Dara O'Shea suspended, it meant that midfielder Calvin Dinsley had to partner Jordan Cullinane-Liburd at the heart of the defence for the match against Dorchester, which Hereford won 1-0.

Preston is on a dual registration deal at Bromsgrove Sporting in order to get back to full fitness but Hereford manager Pete Beadle told BBC Hereford & Worcester that he wanted the 26-year-old back for the match.

"We had eight players in training on Thursday with the hope of getting some here but when they're ill, they're ill," said Beadle

"So we had to go with what we had but I was disappointed to get a text message off Dan to say he didn't want to let Bromsgrove down, which I find hard to believe.

"The plan was for him to go there and play some games and ready for us next season.

"But that won't happen now because he's put his own nails in his coffin.

"I'm really disappointed with it because we stuck by him and we've worked with him and been open and up front from day one.

"He hasn't had a great time with injuries but we tried to do the best by him and he's thrown it back at us, which is really disappointing.

"But I'm so proud of the players who played and the young lads who have come to be on the bench."

Beadle added that he tried to bring in one or two defenders for the game, but was unsuccessful.
